Fangirl dispatch from the office here: Terry just interviewed country music legends Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell about their new album Old Yellow Moon. The interview will air sometime next week. Harris and Crowell have been working together since the 1970s when Crowell joined Harris’s Hot Band and Terry has interviewed him before (see here), but this is the first time Terry has interviewed Harris. Which makes this very exciting.

Crowell co-wrote one of my top five favorite songs — “Leaving Louisiana In the Broad Daylight” — and Harris does my favorite version of it on her 1978 album Quarter Moon in A Ten Cent Town.

It’s just an ordinary story about the way things go

Round and around nobody knows

But the highway goes on forever

There ain’t no way to stop the water.

That, in my opinion, is some good songwriting.

Quarter Moon… has a bunch of good songs on it, really.

The Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Seminole Indian Museum on the Big Cypress Seminole Reservation in Florida has a new exhibit that gives patrons a rare glimpse into the past.

Taken by photographer Julian Dimock during a 1910 expedition across the undrained and untamed landscape of tropical wetlands and cypress hammocks of southern Florida, the photos show everyday activities and portraits of the Seminole people he encountered.
